The Amstrad CPC464
The Amstrad 464 was built round the Z80 processor running at a clock of speed of 4 MHz with 64 kb RAM (42kb available) and a 32 kb ROM containing the operating system and BASIC. the graphics are made up of 3 modes capable of 80 characters x 25 lines, 40 x 25, 20 x 25 for text and 640 x 200 pixels, 320 x 200, 160 x 200 for graphics, with the colours available being dependent on the mode - 2 colours in 640 x 200, 4 colours in 320 x 200, 16 colours in 160 x 200. The sound was generated by a GI AY8910 giving 3 channels.The interfaces include Printer, Bus, Joystick and RGB, unlike most machines of the time there was no TV connector as standard it was necessary to purchase a MP1 modulator and power supply if you wanted to use a TV as your display.
