The Commodore 64

The Commodore 64 is built round the 6510 Processor at a clock speed of 1 MHz with a 20k ROM and 64k of RAM of which a maximum of 54k is available to the user. The colour display is capable of displaying 40 characters on 24 lines in16 colours as well as graphics of up to 320 x 200 pixels. The covers 3 voices, 6 octaves.

Interfaces include, Cassette, TV, ROM Slot, Monitor, RS232 and user port.

The C64 was a powerful machine capable of quality graphics and sound but was let down by its BASIC, as there was a lack of commands to control the superb graphics, spites and sound, instead it was necessary to Poke the relevant registers.  This said the C64 must be one of the most successful computers ever.
