The Commodore VIC20

The VIC20 was launched in 1981 and incorporates some features of the PET, it uses the same processor.

The VIC takes it name from its Video Interface Chip which is a dedicated unit for handling the display, this allows up to 16 colours to be displayed the border has 8 colours while the background has the full 16 available and the characters only have 8

The machine is 404x216x75mm and weighs in at 1,820 grams and was built round the 6502 processor running at a clock speed of 1 MHz the ROM was ?kb and the standard RAM was 5kb expandable to 32kb the display was capable of  23 lines of 22 characters and graphics of 184x176 pixels.

The interface's included ROM and RAM slots, Cassette, 2 x serial and games port. The VIC came with built in BASIC other languages included extended BASIC and ASSEMBLER.

The keyboard is of a high standard with full moving keys  made up of 62 Keys and 4 dedicated Function keys.
