The Micro-Professor

The Micro-Professor is a Z80 based  teaching unit built in Taiwan and distributed by several companies. The unit was available in several formats, the base being the MPF-1. this one is a MPF-1B having the 2K optional BASIC ROM fitted. the spec of the MPF-1 was listed by the manufacturers as:

CPU   Z80 cpu high performance microprocessor with 158 instructions

Ram    2K bytes expandable to 4K    

ROM  2K bytes of sophisticated monitor expandable to 8K bytes  

Input/Output 24 system I/O lines  

Monitor 2K bytes of sophisticated monitor. Monitor includes system initialisation, keyboard scan, display scan, tape write and tape read  

Display 6 digit, 0.5" red LED display.    

Audio Cassette Interfaces 165-bit/sec average rate for data transfer between memory and cassette tape.  

Extension Connector  All buses of CPU, channel signals of CTC and I/O port bus of PIO usable for expansion.

Counter Timer Circuit  Socket provided.  

Parallel I/O Circuit        Socket provided. 

Speaker   2.5" diameter Speaker        

Keyboard  36 keys including 19 function keys, 16 hex digit keys and 1 user defined key.    

The opening line of brochure  stated "By 1990 if you don't know computer basics you may well not have a Job. Computing is becoming as essential as reading and writing."
